How verification works
This page describes what the where.care product stores and displays. It does not add checks that the code does not run.
Background checks
When Checkr is configured, a caregiver can start a Checkr background check. The product records Checkr candidate and report identifiers. A Checkr badge appears only when a Checkr report is on file. A review by where.care staff is not a Checkr report. A background check goes live only from that report. The product can charge a background-check fee (default $35) unless a subsidy code covers it. If Checkr is not configured, that invitation is not sent.
License numbers
RN and LPN applicants submit a license number and state. The product queues a pending license row for staff review. There is no live query of a state board and no instant Nursys API. A license review is a staff review of the number the caregiver submitted. It is not a promise that the person is currently clear with a board.
Point-in-time
These checks are point-in-time. where.care does not continuously monitor. A listing is not a promise that a caregiver is safe or the right fit for a home.
Visit location
A visit can store a home address, a target latitude and longitude, and clock-in and clock-out coordinates from the phone when the phone shares them. Those coordinates are a location log. They are not Medicaid electronic visit verification.
Payments
When Stripe is enabled, a booked shift uses a card authorization that where.care captures after the visit. A booked shift includes a 10% where.care platform fee. The caregiver is paid the posted total minus that fee. Tips are not charged the platform fee. where.care does not hold payment in an escrow account. If Stripe is not enabled, no card is charged and nothing is held. Other charges that exist in the product, when their providers are turned on, are a lead fee, featured placement, and a background-check fee.
