We believe families and independent caregivers deserve transparent digital dignity, free from invasive behavioral tracking and cross-site user surveillance.

Unlike traditional consumer portals and commercial directories, where.care does not sell personal browsing data, does not build behavioral advertising profiles, and does not sell ad space to third-party ad networks. We do not load Google Analytics, a Meta pixel, TikTok pixels, or programmatic advertising retargeting tags anywhere across our public website or application dashboard.

Essential Cookies

Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the technical operation, security, and authentication mechanisms of where.care. Without these cookies, basic platform features such as creating an account, authenticating sessions, and maintaining message threads cannot function.

Sign-in uses Better Auth session cookies, including __Secure-better-auth.session_token and session_data. Those cookies are required to stay signed in. We do not load Google Analytics, a Meta pixel, or other advertising cookies.

Functional Local Storage and Operational Events

where.care uses browser local storage strictly for client-side user preferences and state persistence, rather than tracking identifiers across visits:

wc_lang: Remembers your selected language preference (English or Spanish) so you do not have to toggle language settings on each visit.
cookie-consent: Remembers that you dismissed the short cookie notice banner. It does not enable analytics. The notice does not ask you to accept analytics that are not loaded.
When cross-promo is enabled, where.care records coarse impression and click events on our side. Those are operational events, not a statement that we do no individual tracking of signed-in actions. Cross-promo is off in production until supply is in place.

Video Players and Third-Party Media

Caregiver profile pages may feature an optional introduction video hosted on external streaming platforms such as YouTube or Vimeo, allowing families to evaluate caregiver communication and bedside demeanor.

A caregiver profile does not load a YouTube or Vimeo player until you click Play. After that click, the player may set its own cookies. Leaving the page without clicking does not contact those players.

Once you initiate playback by clicking Play, the third-party provider may record viewing metrics or set streaming session cookies in accordance with their respective privacy and cookie policies. If you do not interact with the video, no connection to their servers is opened.
